Milling and paving work at Algonquin/Jane/Front intersection

A variety of traffic controls will be used this week as improvements continue at the intersection of Algonquin Avenue, Front and Jane streets.

The city says it’s all about ensuring pedestrian safety and the flow of vehicles while asphalt milling and paving take place.

The temporary work and detour schedule will change throughout the week but a portion of Front Street is closed Tuesday, with Algonquin from McIntyre to Copeland to be closed on Wednesday.

On Thursday and Friday, one lane of traffic will be maintained each way for Algonquin north and southbound.

The city also says flagging personnel will assist pedestrians crossing Algonquin at the Jane and Front intersection during the day with temporary stop signs installed during all other periods.

Officials note that traffic delays can be expected throughout the duration of the project.
