National rankings for Battalion, Lakers and Voodoos

Three area hockey teams are holding down spots in the national rankings for their respective leagues.

The North Bay Battalion are tenth this week in the CHL Top 10 rankings.

It’s the first time this season the Central Division-leading Troops have cracked the top 10.

Currently riding a five-game winning streak, North Bay is home to Guelph on Thursday night.

In the OUA, the Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team continues to hold down a spot in the USports weekly top 10.

With a 4-1 record, the Lakers lost their first game of the season last weekend and are ranked 8th in Canada this week, down four spots.

Nipissing looks to get back into the win column Wednesday night at home to 3-3 Ontario Tech.

Game time at Memorial Gardens is 7 pm.

The Powassan Voodoos, meantime, are 20th in the CJHL Top 20 rankings this week.

The 15-6 Voodoos have won 7 straight games.

Powassan plays the Sudbury Cubs, the last team they lost to, on Thursday night in Sudbury.
