Quick action by fire department leads to minor damage to building after truck fire

Quick action by North Bay fire crews may have saved a building last night.

Firefighters from all three stations responded to a transport truck fire at 1490 Main Street West at 6:30 on Sunday and were on scene in four minutes.

Deputy Chief Greg Saunders says upon arrival, crews found a transport truck behind TCM Produce that was fully engulfed in flame. He says the fire had broken a window and begun to extend into the building.

Saunders says employees on-scene had unsuccessfully tried to extinguish the flame with a hose prior to the arrival of the firefighters but the fire had spread too quickly.

The fire was put out by the fire crews, and Saunders says their quick action limited the damage caused to the building. He says the truck will be a write-off, but the building will just require some minor repairs.

The cause of the fire is not suspicious.
