New business to build new facility soon

National Compressed Air is looking to start construction on its sales, marketing and manufacturing centre in North Bay in the next few months.

Earlier this week, Council approved the sale of about two acres of land at the Airport Industrial Park to the Alberta-based company.

David Keddie, President, says the North Bay facility will involve their Rubber Track line of products and will serve all of eastern Canada, east of the Manitoba border.

“North Bay seemed to come down to being a very good focal point for the mining sector and all of the outdoor activities,” he says. “A lot of our product is used for power line construction, replacing telephone poles, things of that nature. It was a good centre for all of that type of activity in our opinion.”

The new facility will be located on Aviation Lane.

“The plan is to put up a building of approximately 10,000 square feet,” says Keddie. “We do have a lot of clients we worked with historically all over northern Ontario so we will be tapping into that market and making sure they know we’re there and much closer now.”

He says once they begin operations, they will have about nine employees on site in North Bay.
