A stolen pre-recorded answering message is causing concern for North Bay Hydro.
The utility is warning businesses are receiving scam calls saying they could be disconnected in a few short hours if payment isn’t made.
They are being offered a 1-800 number, featuring the stolen message if the call is disconnected.
North Bay Hydro says it does not have a 1-800 number and does not call businesses with that kind of urgency and not without prior contact by phone and mail.
Officials say if customers have even the slightest doubt, hang up immediately and call them at 705-474-8100.
