Wakely wins CHL Humanitarian of the Year honours

The Canadian Hockey League Humanitarian of the Year award winner is North Bay Battalion forward Dalyn Wakely.

He was honoured at the CHL awards in Kamloops, BC on the weekend.  

Through his Wake’s Sakes initiative, Wakely and his teammates worked at The Gathering Place each Tuesday from November to the end of the season, held monthly donation drives and raised $2,100 for The Gathering Place.   

Over 600 winter coats, 450 mitts and gloves, 400 hats and over 2000 hygiene products were donated by Battalion fans as a part of the campaign.

The CHL Humanitarian of the Year Award is given out annually to the Canadian Hockey League player judged to have made the most notable contribution to his community. 

Troops goalie Dom DiVincentiis was a finalist for CHL Goaltender of the Year.
