Residents and groups can help plan city centennial celebrations

The City of North Bay is set to turn 100 in 2025 and officials are looking for volunteers to help mark the milestone.

The volunteer Community Centennial Committee will begin 16 months of work this fall providing input and collaborating to help plan events, activities and initiatives to take place throughout 2025.

A variety of groups will be included in the volunteer committee, including external agencies, local school boards, Indigenous groups, businesses, organizations and individuals.

“We can’t celebrate this landmark anniversary as a community without the help of our residents,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “This committee will not only be looking for ways to commemorate our Centennial year as a city, but how to encourage businesses and community groups to celebrate in their own ways.”

North Bay’s charter as a city was presented on Aug. 3, 1925.
