Callander Legion completes several building upgrades

Provincial funding has helped modernize and improve access to programs and events at the Callander Legion.

That from officials with Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 445, Callander who say several large-scale projects were completed over the past year.

They received over $427,000 in funding.

Projects included new audio and kitchen equipment, HVAC units, dining room furniture, a renovated deck space, exterior and accessibility improvements, roof repairs and much more.

“The current building, originally opened in August 1989, is 34 years old and this funding enabled us to meet the local community needs by extending the life and by maximizing the use of existing facilities,” says Ron Devost, President, Callander Legion Branch 445. “These upgrades will also significantly reduce utility costs going forward.”

Devost also says their indoor facilities will now be safer and more comfortable for the several veterans, seniors and sporting groups that use them.
