Purolator helps city residents deliver donations to the food bank

Volunteers from Purolator and the North Bay Food Bank collected over 1,200 pounds of donated food during the inaugural Tackle Hunger Red Bag campaign.

The delivery company says after volunteers recently dropped off 500 red bags on doorsteps in various city neighbourhoods, residents filled the bags with non-perishable food to help people in North Bay facing hunger.

“We know that more and more families are using the food bank every year, so we saw this campaign as an important opportunity to collect as much food as we can,” said Marc Reaume, Manager, North Bay Unit, Purolator and Purolator Tackle Hunger champion. “Nobody should go hungry, so anything we can do to help bridge that gap, our Purolator team in North Bay will always put our hands up to help.”

While this was the first National Red Bag campaign, Purolator says since the Tackle Hunger program started 20 years ago, more than 20 million pounds of food has been delivered to food banks across Canada.
