The new All-Wheel Park in Downtown North Bay is still in the design stage, but it now has a name.
It’ll be known as the Kiwanis All Wheel Park recognizing the club’s $100,000 contribution to the project.
“Kiwanis is a long-time supporter of community recreational projects and I know we’re all grateful for their contribution to the all-wheel park which will be an asset to our community,” says Councillor Justine Mallah, chair of Community Services. “I think it will increase engagement downtown and give youth and all folks of all ages another opportunity to get outside, connect with others and be active.”
The club contributed $100,000 towards the new project.
Councillor Lana Mitchell, Chair of Infrastructure and Operations says the first design workshop involving the project was well-received.
“There was a public workshop held in September so future users could attend and give their input,” she says. “People were thrilled with that and thought that it was really impressive. Not only are we doing community projects but we’re involving the community and engaging with the community.”
The second of three design workshops is scheduled for Nov. 16 (6-8 pm) upstairs at the North Bay Museum.
Once the design is finalized and accepted, the city says the construction phase will begin.
