Door-to-door scam warning from city police

The North Bay Police Service is warning residents about two people knocking on doors and asking for cash donations to the Red Cross in relation to wildfires in BC.

Police say the man and woman were reportedly canvassing in the Hammond and Regina Street area on December 5 and had what appeared to be Red Cross ID badges on lanyards.

Officials say while the Red Cross is running a local door-to-door campaign at this time, they are only looking for monthly partners and never ask for cash.

Police say the man is described as about 25-30 years old wearing black pants and a black jacket.

The woman is described as in her mid-30s with a grey puffy jacket and appeared to have tape over one eye.
