What a difference a couple of weeks can make.
After the recent snowfall, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) says snow depth is back to normal for this time of year around the watershed.
“The average snow depth for all three locations is 26.1 cm and water equivalence for the three sites is 48.0 mm,” says Angela Mills, NBMCA Water Resources Specialist. “This would be considered normal for this time of year at the three sites.”
In North Bay, the measurement taken on Jan. 15 was slightly below the normal range, while it’s within the norm in both Corbeil and Chisholm.
Two weeks ago, officials reported no measurable snow in the North Bay area.
It was the first time in 17 years that had happened, for that time of the year.
NBMCA is now providing a range of normal historical snow depth.
A snow survey web page will also be available with more snow survey program information and this season’s measurements.
