More casino-related money for the city

Another $366,092 is being added to the city coffers.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced the latest quarterly payment to the city for hosting Cascades Casino North Bay.

It brings the total to $2,731,628 since the casino opened in March 2022.

“OLG continues to provide Municipality Contribution Agreement payments to gaming host communities for vital programs and services that benefit all Ontarians,” says Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance.  “Land-based casinos offer good, local jobs and play an important role in supporting strong, vibrant communities for families to live, work and play.”

Earlier this week, council rejected an amendment to continue the discussion about where to spend the money.

After going through the long-term financial review process, it was decided the money will be used as a funding source for community capital projects.
