A delegation from the city is meeting with provincial officials in Toronto as part of the annual Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference.
Senior staff and several members of council are at the conference.
On Monday, they met with Health Minister Sylvia Jones to discuss physician recruitment and address challenges involving mental health, addictions and homelessness.
Another meeting is planned with the Ministry of Transportation to talk about connecting link infrastructure.
The local delegation also has a meeting with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks involving enhanced coordination between the Endangered Species Act and the province’s Planning Act.
Officials say the conference, which draws about 1,600 people from 300 municipalities, is an opportunity for provincial and municipal leaders to come together and work collaboratively on issues impacting rural and small urban communities.
