Gateway To the Arts & Nick’s Place For Us is opening in a new location. The retail art gallery and non-profit youth centre are moving to Northgate Shopping Centre.
A grand re-opening is taking place on Saturday, March 9 (10 am – 1 pm).
Karrie Emms, founder and co-owner says moving away from downtown after three years was a difficult decision.
But she says it came time to face imminent closure or a change in location. “I have a huge heart for downtown North Bay, but we had a building in need of serious repair, growing safety concerns with our youth, a lack of foot traffic, impending road closures this summer and a lack of funding to contend with,” Emms says. “The mall setting is a safer environment for the youth we work with in our free and low-cost programming. The space is big and bright, and all of our current programming can run as well as some new things we have in the works.”
Up until a week ago they occupied two storefronts on Main Street West.
They’re also simplifying their name to Gateway & Nick’s Place For Us, which still operate as two entities.
