Kev’s Kids fundraiser returns May 30 & 31

Country 90.5 FM morning show host Kevin Oschefski is getting ready for another 29-hour radio marathon.

The Kev’s Kids fundraiser for Rotary4Kids takes place May 30-31.

Every dollar raised during the broadcast stays in the community to help local children with special needs.

“The equipment that they require is expensive but what do you do? If your child needs a bench to bathe, you have to figure out a way to get a bench to bathe,” Oschefski says. “If we can all get together to help out with that, they have so much stress already in their lives, that if that’s one less thing they need to focus on then at least we’ve helped a little bit.”

Funds raised go towards the purchase of assistive devices, programming, uninsured medical costs and more.

This year’s ambassadors are the Special Needs Class at Sunset Park Public School.

“What’s interesting about it is it’s multiple kids this year and they each have different needs,” says Oschefski. “But collectively they’re all together in the class and they all support each other. We thought what a neat story it would be to spotlight all these kids and their teachers as well, who do a great job.”

Donations are already being accepted online and can be made by phone or at the radio station (122 Main Street East) during next week’s broadcast.

They’ll also be live on location at the North Bay YMCA for the wrap up from 7 am to 10 am on Friday, May 31.
