Downchild Blues Band

Who knew it would take The Legendary Downchild Blues Band over two years to resume their 50th Anniversary Tour, which has now been renamed The Longest 50th Anniversary Tour Ever!

The band is thrilled to be heading to North Bay to perform at the Capitol Centre on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 7:30 Pm, as part of Capitol Centre Bluesfest.

Downchild is of course the inspiration for Hollywood stars Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi’s hit film The Blues Brothers. In fact, two Downchild songs “I Got Everything I Need (Almost)” and “Shotgun Blues” are found on The Blues Brothers smash album Briefcase Full of Blues.

The return to North Bay is a homecoming for leader, co-founder, guitarist, harmonica player and the band’s main songwriter, Donnie Walsh, who grew up in West Ferris and discovered music on the jukebox at the infamous Lakeview Inn, which his parents owned back in the day. Donnie will be inducted into the North Bay Musician & Entertainers Hall of Recognition on September 1 at Downchild’s show at the Capitol Centre.

The band shut down Bloor Street in Toronto for this once in a lifetime performance and torn it up for a magical night that was thankfully captured on tape by award winning producer, Joel Goldberg.

The Legendary Downchild Blues Band is a Canadian blues institution with an international reputation. They have shared the stage with blues icons B.B. KingBuddy Guy and John Lee Hooker to name a few and have performed around the world, leaving fans thoroughly entertained wherever the go.
