The interim tag is coming off of city Chief Administrative Officer John Severino’s title.
Council approved his hiring following a recruitment process that began shortly after he was appointed interim CAO in early January.
“We look forward to continuing to work with John,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “He brings a wealth of experience to the table and his knowledge of the community, the staff and the organization will be invaluable as we continue to focus on our priorities and move forward as a city.”
Severino has been a long-time member of the city’s management team, having served as Manager of Environmental Services, Managing Director of Community Services and City Engineer.
He also held management positions in the private sector, including those at PGI Fabrene and Dupont Canada.
“I am excited to be taking on this new role with the City of North Bay and look forward to working with staff across all departments as well as with the City’s community partners in supporting Council’s vision and implementing its goals,” says Severino.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in chemical engineering from Queen’s University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ottawa.
