Ontario’s Education Minister got an in-person look at what  Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) officials say are two innovative programs at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH).

Last Thursday, Paul Calandra met with students, staff and officials at the board and SJSH.

The board says the tour included a deep dive into the Robotics course and the Indigenous Graduation Coach program, which provides culturally rooted supports, guided by traditional Indigenous teachings.

They say it also helps guide students through academic planning, cultural learning opportunities, and more.

In the Robotics lab, students showcased the hands-on design, engineering, and problem-solving skills they are developing.

Officials say the new course is already opening doors to pathways in skilled trades, technology, and beyond.

“On behalf of the entire NPSC community, we extend our sincere gratitude to Minister Calandra and his team for their visit,” says Paula Mann, Director of Education. “We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to showcase the innovative, student-focused programs that are at the heart of Catholic education at NPSC.”
