The curtain is rising again on the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board’s (NPSC) Summer Challenge.

The summer school theatre arts program returns this year with the production of Alice by Heart, a musical inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Officials say the program, launched 23 years ago, provides students with opportunities to develop skills in acting, singing, dance, and production.

It was paused last year because of school renewal projects.

NPSC says the program is open to all Grades 7-12 students, including those who attend school outside of the board, offering the opportunity to earn at least one academic credit toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Session times and locations will be shared once confirmed, but an information night is planned for Monday, May 4, with auditions later that week (May 6-7).

The show will take to the stage in mid-July.

Officials say students who want to take part must attend the information night. They add available roles include:

  • Lead actors
  • Supporting actors
  • Dancers
  • Vocal ensemble member
