City fire officials warn of possible phone scam

North Bay Fire & Emergency Services is advising the public of a possible phone scam.

They say someone is calling people falsely claiming to represent the fire department and requesting payment for an outstanding invoice.

Officials say the city and fire department don’t typically request payment by phone and say any calls like it should be treated as suspicious.

If you get a call, they say don’t give out any personal or financial information and hang up, then contact the city or fire department (705-474-0626 ext. 4855) to verify the legitimacy of the request.

Officials also say the North Bay Police Service has been advised.
