U18 Trappers’ captain signs with Powassan

The Powassan Voodoos continue to bring in players from the Great North U18 champion North Bay U18 AAA Trappers.

Captain and forward Scott Szczygiel has signed with the NOJHL club he grew up watching, adding he was a Voodoos flag bearer with the team as a youngster.

“It was great growing up watching the Voodoos all my life,” he says.

Szczygiel scored 26 goals and 34 assists in 35 games last year.

“I think I’m a very defensive forward but I can also get offensive chances for my team and myself,” he says.

Chris Dawson, Voodoos General Manager, says Szczygiel brings leadership qualities and a great work ethic.

“He’s a guy who we’ve watched over the last couple of years. Plays a great 200-foot game. Scores some great goals, not just during the regular season but the playoffs,” says Dawson.

Szczygiel joins U18 Trappers Carson Ruddy and Cedar Montreuil who have already signed with the Voodoos this off-season.

The Voodoos Prospects Camp takes place July 4-5 at Pete Palangio arena in North Bay.
