Voodoos coach heading to the OHL

The Powassan Voodoos are looking for a new head coach.

This after Peter Goulet accepted an assistant coaching position with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs.

“I am forever grateful for the past four years,” says Goulet. “Thanks to Jim Bruce, who is an amazing owner and the great staff I worked with over the years. I have met so many new friends. Not easy to leave, but this is a great opportunity for my career.”

Chris Dawson, Voodoos general manager and longtime hockey friend of Goulet’s, is glad to see his colleague accept the OHL promotion.

“We are very happy for coach Peter, as he has been a tireless worker on the bench and off the ice for our program,” says Chris Dawson, Voodoos General Manager.  “We know he is going to a great organization and our owner, returning players and staff will certainly miss him this fall.”

Having coached more than 1,000 games in his career, Goulet is coming off his second NOJHL Coach of the Year nod in four seasons, and has more than 600 wins as a head coach and an assistant coach.

Dawson says the search for a new bench boss at the Sportsplex is underway.

“We have a great support system in place for a head coach, so we are looking for a new coach who is honest, hard-working and eager to win a NOJHL championship,” he says.
