You can meet the West Nipissing municipal candidates Tuesday night

The opportunity to meet the people named on all the election signs in West Nipissing is coming up Tuesday.

Collège Boréal and the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce are hosting the Meet the Candidates event, which is being sponsored by the North Bay & Area REALTORS® Association.

From 5 pm to 7:30 pm at Collège Boréal (96 Main Street) in Sturgeon Falls you can ask the candidates questions and learn more about their priorities and platforms ahead of the Oct. 26 vote.

“This event is designed to make it easy for residents to have meaningful, direct conversations with the people seeking to represent them,” says Donna Backer, NBDCC CEO. “We encourage members of the community to attend, ask questions and learn more about their candidates before casting their ballots.”

Officials say the mayoral candidates will be located together in one room, while council candidates will be organized by ward in separate classrooms.

There will be no formal speeches or moderated question period.

“Collège Boréal is pleased to welcome candidates and residents from across West Nipissing to our Sturgeon Falls campus,” saysRachel Quesnel of Collège Boréal. “As a community-focused institution, we are proud to support an event that brings people together and encourages local engagement.”

A candidate handout will also be available in printed and digital formats.

Election Day is Monday, Oct. 26.
