Several volunteers are being celebrated in West Nipissing.

West Nipissing’s mayor says she’s grateful the municipality had the opportunity to be part of, and contribute, to the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction Small Cities Initiative.

The first municipally led standards for prevention, treatment, recovery, policing, policies, and more, around substance use are now available.

The MNR says a flood warning is place for southern areas of the Sturgeon and Upper Ottawa Watersheds in the North Bay District while as of Friday, the Conservation Authority says a flood warning is in place for the North Bay-Mattawa watershed, a flood watch for the Lake Nipissing Shoreline (Callander and North Bay), with a flood outlook for the Mattawa River downstream of the Hurdman Dam.

A state of emergency has been declared by the Township of Chisholm while a flood watch is in effect for West Nipissing and surrounding area.
