Nipissing Serenity Hospice looking to raise $125,000

Hike for Hospice returns for an 11th year on Friday.

It’s Nipissing Serenity Hospice’s annual community fundraiser, in support of free palliative care, grief and bereavement programs and services throughout Nipissing and East Parry Sound.

This year’s goal is $125,000.

The 2.2 km, in-person hike begins at noon on Friday at 799 John Street and will be followed by a barbecue and activities at the hospice.

There’s also the hybrid Hike for Hospice.

People can register individually or as a team and complete a hike or walk in their own community throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, Oct. 9-12.

This year’s Hike Ambassadors are Rob Brownlee and Dan Degagne.

Along with some speeches, the top fundraisers will be recognized before Friday’s hike.
