Children in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at the hospital can now learn to cook and bake during their stay.
A fully functional kitchen was installed thanks to the proceeds from last year’s McHappy Day. Brad Haines is the Owner and Operator of the local McDonald’s and he and his wife Joanne got a tour of the kitchen Wednesday.
He says it’s always nice to see firsthand where the money is going from these charity events.
He says to know they are helping out kids locally really drives home the message of why they put on the annual event.
Haines says getting to meet the staff and see the facility reaffirms the kids are in good hands.
The 2016 event set a new record with over $11,700 raised and half of that goes to the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
Haines says it’s thanks to all the donations from their customers that this year’s event was also very successful.
