Busy Weekend for North Bay Police

The holiday weekend proved to be a busy one for the North Bay Police, as they responded to 355 service calls and arrested and charged 16 people with various offences.

Among them:

a 44-year old North Bay woman was charged with one count of assault with a weapon, and one count of mischief. Allegedly, a verbal dispute between the accused and her male partner turned violent in their residence when she threw a mug at him.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result, the accused was released from custody and has a court appearance scheduled for August 9th.

30-year old Brendan Lee Chartier was arrested and charged with ten different counts, among them two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation.

The accused was allegedly injured shortly after 9PM Saturday outside of Main Street following an altercation with two males.

When the two males fled the scene, a witness approached Chartier out of concern for his condition.

Chartier then threatened the witness with a knife, and before fleeing the scene on foot threw a can of beer at the witness

The police located Chartier shortly after, where he was arrested. He is also accused of threatening a police officer while being transported to the police station.

Chartier was held in custody for a bail hearing.
