The Nipissing Lakers and the Laurentian Voyageurs will renew their rivalry this weekend and begin the head-to-head series known as the Riley Gallo Cup, which goes to the winner of season series between the women’s and men’s soccer team.
On the women’s side, both teams hold identical 2-2-0 records and are coming off a weekend split in Kingston. Sunday’s game will conclude a four game road trip for the Lakers that saw them travel to Toronto, Kingston and now Sudbury.
Game 1 of the Riley Gallo Cup is scheduled for noon on Sunday, at the LU Soccer Fields.
On the men’s side, both the Nipissing Lakers men’s soccer team and the Laurentian Voyageurs have identical records as well,  and are hoping their rivalry with each other gets them going.
Sitting at 1-3-0 and only having defeated Royal Military College, both teams are eager to start their climb up the East Division standings and into a comfortable playoff position.
Kickoff on Sunday is set for 2:15pm in Sudbury.
