The Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey continued their tradition of supporting the Nipissing University student food bank with another huge donation. Yesterday, the Lakers donated about 1,500 pounds of food that they acquired through a food drive that was done Wednesday night throughout the city, as well as through money raised from a hockey pool conducted by Lakers head coach Mike McParland.
It is the eighth year the Men’s Hockey team has done this drive, providing about 10,000 pounds of food during that time. Mike and Lori Sheehan of No Frills on McKeown Drive played a huge role in the donation and have been supporting the initiative since Day 1. Members of the Lakers Hockey team, NUSU and head coach Mike McParland were on hand for the donation.
