A couple of local bowlers qualify for nationals, and get ready to head to provincials

North Bay’s Liam Smith took the men’s singles silver medal at the Youth Challenge Provincial 5 Pin Bowling Championship over the weekend.

It’s the second consecutive year a youth bowler from Partners bowling has qualified for the National Championships. Smith’s 234.2 average over five games at Midtown Bowl in Timmins earned a berth at the national championships in Ottawa starting on March 16th until the 18th. There were 15 local bowlers ages 12 to 18 at the event competing.

Twelve local Youth Bowlers from Partners Bowling also competed in the 2nd step of the YBC Nationals Championship tournament Singles Division at Chatelanes, in Sturgeon Falls on December 11th.

The bowlers from North Bay competed in six possible singles categories. Capturing a gold medal was Sadie Tremblay in the Bantam Girls division. This is the second consecutive year she has captured that title. Capturing silver medals were Kyrsten Tremblay in the Junior Girls division, Noah Starcevic in the Junior Boys division, Laura-Anne Seaton in the Senior Girls division and Thomas Williams in the Senior Boys division. Capturing bronze medals were Gavin Dewar in the Bantam Boys division, Nicholas MacLean in the Junior Boys division and Tessa Grant in the Senior Girls division. Tremblay will represent the Gateway zone at the Provincials being held in Timmins in March.
