North Bay Battalion losing footing on playoff spot as troubles continue

The North Bay Battalion dropped another home ice decision last night, this time a 2-1 loss to the Mississauga Steelheads. Riley Bruce scored his first goal of the season, and Julian Sime made 30 saves against his home town team in the loss.

The Troops are 1-8-1 in their last ten games, and now sit just two points ahead of Niagara for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. If the Battalion hope to make the postseason this year, they will have to change their fortunes in a hurry.

An important stretch begins tonight when the Troops take a trip down the road to take on the Sudbury Wolves, a team ahead of them by four points in the standings. Then they take on the Barrie Colts on Sunday, a team that’s seven points behind the Troops with two games in hand. After that it’s back at home next Thursday for another important match-up against Sudbury on home ice.
