Five straight goals powers the North Bay Battalion past the Sarnia Sting

The North Bay Battalion scored five straight goals last night, on route to a 7-4 victory over the Sarnia Sting. Daniil Vertiy had two goals, Brett McKenzie had three points, including the game-winning goal midway through the third period, and Brent Moran had 32 saves in the victory. Kyle Potts, Adam Thilander, Zach Poirier and Justin Brazeau also chipped in with a goal apiece.

Head Coach Stan Butler says despite the fast paced game, he’s happy to get the win. Butler says they haven’t played as good as they’d have liked at home this season, and he thinks there’s some pretty legitimate circumstances for that. A reference to the number of injuries the Troops have dealt with on the back-end this season.

The Troops will have to continue to get the job done minus four of their top defenceman. The Troops are back in action tonight, heading to Mississauga for a big central division showdown with the Steelheads.
