Trappers moving onto Great North Midget league finals after beating Kapuskasing

The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers beat the Kapuskasing Flyers 3-2 in Game 5 of their semi-final series last night. More than 1000 fans were at Memorial Gardens taking the game in. The Trappers started off slow and were down 1-0 early on thanks to a Martin Poisson goal, before Nick Davis evened the score late in the first period. The Trappers controlled play in the second period, but neither team could score setting up a winner takes all 3rd period.

Matt Hardwick got the Trappers up 2-1 and Joe Whittet scored the eventual game winner mid-way through the third. Maxim Lacroix rounded out the scoring for the Flyers before the Trappers defence shut it down the rest of the way. Goaltender Joel Rainville got the win for the Trappers.

The Trappers now move on to the Great North Midget league finals, where they will take on the defending League Champion Nickel Capital Wolves. Games 1 and 2 will be in North Bay, but the times have yet to be announced.
