The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team return home tonight a win away from the McCaw Cup championship. Standing in their way is the University of Toronto Varsity Blues who will try and send the series to a decisive Game 3 tomorrow night.
The Lakers played their best game of the post-season on Wednesday night in Toronto, beating Toronto 5-2 after dominating much of the game. The Lakers jumped out to a 3-0 lead and cruised from there to go up 1-0 in the Best-of-3, second round series.
Nipissing has been led by the usual suspects so far in the playoffs. The top line of Bronwyn Bolduc, Sam Strassburger, and Jade Gauthier has been dominate to this point. Goaltender Jackie Rochefort has translated her strong regular season play into strong play so far in the postseason as well.
Tonight’s game gets underway at 7:00pm, and Nipissing University is providing a bus to and from Memorial Gardens for anyone who wants to come out and watch.
