ESC Algonquin is hosting the OFSAA Boys AAA Basketball Championships at Nipissing University and Canadore College this week. The tournament starts today and runs until Wednesday. The championship semi-finals take place Wednesday morning at 10:00am and 12:00pm, with the bronze medal game at 6:00pm Wednesday night and Gold Medal game at 8:00pm in the Nipissing Gym.
The teams participating are made up of players who will be playing NCAA Division 1, CIS and CCAA basketball in the next couple of years. That includes a 6’9 Harvard commit (Danilo Djuricic from St. Mike’s College School in Toronto) as well as a Canadian National team point guard Jordan Henry from Pine Ridge in Pickering. Officials say this is the most competitive basketball tournament North Bay has ever hosted.
