Riley Gravelle of the Widdifield Wildcats scored in overtime to beat the Korah Kolts 2-1, and claim the NOSSA championship. Jackson Downey had the other goal for the Wildcats. Korah’s Liam Brescacin scored their only goal on the power play in the third period which helped force overtime.
Widdifield went undefeated in the tournament, beating the NDA champion Chippewa Raiders 2-1 in their final preliminary game. The Wildcats beat Korah of Sault Ste. Marie and St. Charles of Sudbury 5-1 each on Monday. The victory gives Widdifield a berth at the OFSAA championships in Fort Frances starting on March 20th and running until the 23rd.
