Up 2-0, the Powassan Voodoos head to Timmins to take on the Rock in Game 3

The Powassan Voodoos will look to take a strangle hold over their 3rd round series against the Timmins Rock when they hit the ice for Game 3 tonight at 7:30pm. The Voodoos won Game 1 by a score of 6-2, and followed that up with a 4-0 victory in Game 2. Thanks to those performances, forward Gary Mantz and goaltender Nate McDonald were named the 2nd and 3rd stars of the week.

McDonald, the NOJHL’s most valuable player and a North Bay native, remained unbeaten in the playoffs with a 24 save effort on Friday and a 22 save shutout on Saturday. So far in the playoffs, McDonald boasts a 2.00 goals-against average to go along with a .926 save percentage.

Mantz amassed five points in the Voodoos opening two wins over Timmins, including the game-winning-goal on Saturday night. With points in all six of Powassan’s playoff games to date, Mantz is currently fourth in NOJHL playoff scoring with six goals and 5 assists.

Game 4 will also be in Timmins, tomorrow night at 7:30pm.
