Under 16? Here’s a list of places you can’t drive your snowmobile

The North Bay OPP is issuing a reminder for parents and guardians of children under 16 who drive snowmobiles.

Under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act, no one under the age of 16 is allowed to drive on or across a highway, even if they hold a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Licence.

A “highway” includes a common and public highway, street, avenue, parkway, driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles. This means that if the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail is on a town road, the youth is forbidden to drive on it.
