North Bay Heritage and Railroad Company train to sport new colours

North Bay residents want to be by the carousel and mini train on Memorial Drive during the Victoria Day long weekend.

That’s when the North Bay Heritage and Railroad Company reveals the new colours for its train.

Volunteer Bill White says the new colours will match the old colours of the ONR.

“We’re also hoping to have a (modified) car that can accommodate people in wheelchairs,” White said.

“These are the electric, big heavy ones that can be awkward.”

Carousel and mini train rides begin Victoria long weekend

Memorial weekend is when the mini train and carousel begin another season.

White says visitors will notice that some of the horses and woodland creatures have also been repainted over the winter.

Last year the organization saw almost 60,000 riders.

White believes the number is partly due to the affordability of the rides.

“It’s $7 for 10 rides, it’s cheap and it’s fun,” White says.

White says the carousel and train literally attracts tourists from all over the world.

He says last year people who enjoyed the rides came from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China and Japan.

The new train colours will be unveiled May 19th at 1:00pm on site.
