Campaign season underway in Nipissing

In the first official week of the provincial election campaign, candidates to become MPP for Nipissing have been active.

Ontario PC candidate Vic Fedeli opened his campaign headquarters on Main Street East in front of a crowd of supporters, with him and wife Patty decked out in the incumbent’s signature yellow.

Fedeli says the PC party will cut hydro rates by an additional 12 per cent beyond the Liberals’ Fair Hydro Plan.
Hydro is also front and centre for NDP candidate Henri Giroux, whose party is promising to drop bills by 30 per cent over 10 years if elected.

Giroux also opened his campaign headquarters, located on Cassells Street.

And, Northern Ontario Party hopeful Trevor Holliday said at his campaign headquarters opening on Main Street West that if he could make a difference on only one issue during this campaign, it would be on Hydro.

Meanwhile, despite some public support, Holliday will not be included in the Chamber of Commerce Candidates Debate taking place Tuesday evening. Your TV/Cogeco has cited a company policy limiting the number of candidates to include the PC (Fedeli), Liberal (Stephen Glass), NDP (Giroux), and Green Party (Kris Rivard) candidates.

Also running in Nipissing is Ontario Libertarian candidate Bond Keevil.

The debate will be moderated by Moose FM’s Mike Monaghan.
