Everyone poops and most RVs dump

When a disappointed Adrien Foisy last left North Bay City Council Chambers, his hopes of convincing the municipal politicians to build an RV waste dumping station seemed to be in the crapper.

Two weeks later, a motion by Councillor Chris Mayne, seconded by Councillor Jeff Serran, has given Foisy and RV enthusiasts hope that their request for a dumping station to replace the former apparatus buried beneath the ground at the previous home of the North Bay Chamber of Commerce at the Highway 11/17 Bypass and Seymour Street is making progress.

The septic dump out for recreational vehicles motion directs City staff to prepare a report to Council examining the following factors:

1. estimated usage of such facilities if it was provided;
2. potential locations for the facility with site-specific costing;
3. estimated on-going operational costs;
4. recommended user pay options and fees; and
5. any other relevant information.

Council unanimously approved the motion and once the report is received, it will be referred to the Engineering and Works Committee.

Mayne says he expects a report by late August or early September meaning it is unlikely that any construction would take place that late in the season.

Foisy says he is pleased by the outcome and appreciates the work that has gone into this. He maintains that there are dozens of RV users who would utilize the dumping station and by adding a facility, it would help tourism.

Asked what he will do if he sees no movement on the subject by the end of summer, Foisy responds, “I’ll be back.”
