Loud banging leads to charges

The North Bay Police Service is reminding business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment.

Police say quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings. Case in point, yesterday, following a 911 call reporting loud banging noises in the Seymour Street area.

Police arrested and charged a 31-year-old North Bay man with:

  • One count of mischief
  • One count of theft under $5000 and
  • One count of possession of break-in instruments

Police say they arrested the man after he caused approximately $2,500 worth of damage. The accused was found with $10 worth of stolen property. He was also in possession of break-in tools.

He will appear in the North Bay Courthouse on July 24 after being released on a promise to appear.
