Talk about a hot seat

Maybe he just needed to sit down?

North Bay Police Service reporting that officers responded to a call at a residence in the First Avenue area of downtown North Bay in which the accused may have wanted to do just that.

It is alleged that at approximately 9:00amon Sunday, the accused walked into a residence and tried to remove a chair. The owner was home and confronted the accused and stopped the theft. The owner called the police who attended the location and arrested the accused. The accused resisted, however, officers were able to make the arrest without injury.

A 40-year-old North Bay man is charged with:

  • One count of being unlawfully in a dwelling
  • One count of theft under $5,000
  • One count of assault police with intent to resist arrest

The accused was later released from police custody and will appear in court in North Bay on July 24.
