Cold comfort or temporary relief?

Yes, it’s still hot but a cold front accompanied by a chance of showers and a low temperature of 14 tonight should help. Tomorrow, the daytime high is expected to reach “only” 23 with temperatures overnight dropping to 11 to make sleeping a little more comfortable. However, the long-range forecast calls for daytime temperatures in the high 20s and little rain for the next week and beyond.

Environment reports the Heat Warning remains in effect for:

North Bay – Powassan – Mattawa
West Nipissing – French River

The heat will continue today, with the humidex expected to reach 38.

Most areas will see highs today reaching into the high 20s to low 30s. Temperatures near the lake shores will be cooler.
A cold front will cross the region this evening, bringing a definite cool down.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
