Board replacement is ‘political assassination’ says Forgette

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette says the entire ordeal was “unfortunate,” and he is a victim of “political assassination.”

Forgette has formally been removed from his position as a member of the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB), and now he’s been replaced.

After an in-camera session at last night’s North Bay City Council meeting, Forgette emerged from the backroom meeting area looking glum. He announced that he would begrudgingly back Council’s choice of Councillor Mac Bain as Forgette’s replacement for the remainder of the term. Bain also replaced Forgette when he resigned from the Police Board in March 2017.

Forgette says that an issue getting the phone records from his cell provider and difficulties filing the paperwork with the board are to blame for his dismissal. It is a procedural requirement of DNSSAB legislation that any member who misses three consecutive meetings is removed.
