Health unit identifies blue-green algae in area

The West Arm of Lake Nipissing has some blue-green algae in it.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts found the bacteria during the course of regular water tests.

The health unit says the algae blooms aren’t anchored and may move around that part of the lake.

The health unit says you don’t want to swim in the water or use it for cooking or bathing.

Also don’t boil the water to get rid of the algae.

All that does is break open the algae which releases toxins into the water.

Callander Bay also has a case of blue green algae but it’s not affecting the drinking water because the town’s water plant removes toxins.
