After 16 NHL seasons a local favourite returns

The North Bay Battalion and its fans will welcome a former North Bay Centennial back to Memorial Gardens Friday night.

Friday evening will be Ottawa Senators Chris Neil Night as the Troops return to action at 7:00pm when the team hosts its rivals, the Sudbury Wolves.

The retired Ottawa Senator and former Centennial will be available to sign autographs and meet and greet fans starting at 5:30pm in the Memorial Gardens main concourse.

Fans are encouraged to bring Senators or Centennials items to be signed. Printed Neil photos will also be available compliments of the NHL club who are sponsoring the game.

Neil retired from the Senators last year after providing his team with nightly hustle and grit, along with occasionally showing off his deceptively soft scoring touch around the net, in a career spanning 16 seasons with Ottawa.

The Flesherton, Ont., native continues to reside in Ottawa and is the Alumni Ambassador for the Sens.

Neil, who was a teammate of current North Bay Battalion assistant coach Scott Wray with the North Bay Centennials for three years, starting with the 1996-97 season, had a standout career with the Cents:

 

Other events scheduled for Friday:

  • Pre-game video tribute and ceremonial puck drop
  • Troops’ mascot Sarge vs Sens’ mascot Spartacat in fun challenges
  • Ottawa Senators ticket and group sales information in the main concourse
  • Tickets for Friday night’s game are now on sale and can be purchased daily from 8:30am to 4:30pm at Battalion Headquarters on the second floor of Memorial Gardens or online at www.battalionhockey.com.
