Updates on City Hall and Canada Post threats

One of the two threats made to locations in North Bay’s downtown core has been resolved without any charges.

On November 30, access by the public to North Bay City Hall was restricted for two hours and North Bay Police Service officers were stationed at the main doors as a result of the threat made to someone inside the building.

NBPS Community Safety Coordinator John Schultz says the City Hall matter has been dealt with. “The individual who made the call was identified and having regard to the context and content of the conversation the matter is considered closed. No charges will be laid.”

As far as a bomb threat received at a call centre in North Bay threatening a Canada Post distribution centre on December 4, Schultz says “the matter is an ongoing investigation with nothing to report at this time.”

Schultz said December 5, “The contents of the threat were time sensitive and there is no information to suggest that there is a safety concern at this time.”

NBPS says the investigation is ongoing in conjunction with Canada Post Security and other law enforcement agencies.
