Impaired charges laid stemming from October collision

Police have charged a 33-year-old Callander man with impaired driving several months after the incident in question.

At approximately 12:15am on October 27, 2018, officers from the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 654 in Callander.

Officers attended the scene to find a single vehicle collision with two people in the vehicle. The driver sustained life-altering injuries while the passenger sustained minor injuries.

OPP Technical Collision Investigator (TCI) and an OPP Collision Reconstructionist conducted an analysis of the scene and with the assistance of the Centre of Forensic Sciences, the OPP has laid the charges in this collision.

The Callander man has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired (Alcohol)
  • Driving With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

The accused has been released on a summons to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, on March 19.
